Chapter 38. Understanding Mobile Marketing

The future of the Internet is in the palm of your hand. Literally. Many experts, me included, believe that the next wave of web marketing is actually mobile marketing—marketing to consumers who access the Internet from their smartphones and other mobile devices.

Why is this? It’s simple. The Internet is becoming less and less of a computer-specific activity; more and more people are accessing the Internet from other types of devices. As a personal example, I’m an iPhone user, and I use my iPhone several times a day to log onto the Internet and browse one or another websites. It doesn’t matter to me whether I’m using my computer or my iPhone—I’m still doing the same web-related stuff.
