Your tribe is essential. While this leadership book and other books, podcasts, articles, and think pieces you'll run across will provide essential information for you, it won't be enough. You need a group of people around you who will help keep you on your leadership journey.

The word “tribe” can be swapped out for many other words, including crew, clique, accountability squad, partners, and mentors. Independent of what you call this group of people, they have one important goal: to make sure that the leadership path you're on is one that is accomplished, adds value, and ultimately gets done.

Another reason your tribe is so important is one very simple but impactful word: change. The unknown future chains of events, environmental factors, the next global pandemic (that we hope never happens), the new culture of work, and new budding industries will all be disruptive and cause change. And while higher institutions offer new courses and degrees, new certifications are created, and organizations offer training to take these changes head on, these things aren't always quickly at our fingertips. Because you are responsible for your leadership journey, it's in your best interest to have an easily accessible curated solution to get resources, assistance, counsel, and guidance without a lot of red tape, a huge investment, or traveling too far.
