Conclusion
The centrepiece of this book is the conviction that high quality universities are the best way to help our world deal with the enormous challenges of accelerating change. We have set out the four ways in which we think this should be done. But we also think that universities have to change a great deal in order to do this as well as they need to. In this chapter, we summarise the conclusions that we have come to in each chapter, firstly for universities themselves and secondly for governments. These observations are written around a UK setting but also apply in principle to the other countries, we have focused on.
