KEY II

COLOR

Color can greatly affect a sketch. When utilized well, you can make a viewer feel the warmth of the sun, or the chill of rain. Color can be the easiest way to give a sketch a sense of realism or it can be a fun way to make a creative departure from what is in front of you. As with any part of a sketch, color comes down to artist’s choice. Every urban sketcher has their favorite pigments and learns how to make those work for them. To really embrace a lighting scheme, the trick isn’t in the specific colors you use, but in how the colors you use relate to each other and in how you choose to employ them.
