Chapter 5 explored the dynamics tool-set specific to Soundtrack. It covered what the tools are and how to use them, and talked about some generalized methods of implementation. In this chapter we are going to explore some of the specifics dealing with meeting the volume level standards for a variety of projects. This chapter could easily have been located immediately after the chapter on mixing (Chapter 9), but I think it is important to start working towards the appropriate end result very early in the process. If you were to wait until after the mix was complete to figure out how loud everything needs to be, you would probably have to redo the mix anyway.
