Layout of Control Areas

The three main control areas associated with a TV studio are:

Production control: director and his immediate production staff.

Vision control area: lighting director and video engineers/operators.

Sound control area: sound mixer audio control specialist and his staff.

Location near the studio

Ideally the control area should be on the ground floor adjacent to the studio. There should be quick and easy access into the studio from all the control areas, and of course artistes should not have to go through control areas to gain access to the studio.

Observation windows

Large double-glazed windows should be included between all control areas to enable good visual communication.
