Video is a solid substitute for being face-to-face when participants cannot meet in person. Client updates, presentations, interviews, business meetings, training sessions, and general conversations are measurably more effective with video over audio only.
Those who grumble about the virtualization and impersonalization of the workplace can jump on this technology. With video you get to see body language, facial expressions, attitudes, and people’s comfort level—all of which you miss out on with oral or written communication alone.
