INTEGRATING VFX SHOTS WITH THE POSTPRODUCTION SCHEDULE

Visual effects editing doesn’t take place in a vacuum. The process has to smoothly integrate and be coordinated with the editing of the movie which, in turn, must fit into the overall postproduction schedule. On most productions, the whole postproduction phase will be under the guidance of a postproduction supervisor. This individual will prepare a schedule that lays out a timeline for when certain milestones have to be reached for the picture to be completed on time. On the production end, some of these milestones include completion of the rough cut, the director’s cut, music recording sessions, preview screenings, start of negative cutting, and many other steps in this complex process. ...
