Abstract
This chapter focuses on the expansion of traditional business intelligence to include data discovery. It discusses how discovery should be seen as a complementary process that drives BI going forward, rather than replace it, to supports data-driven competencies for evolving data-centric organizations. It also reviews the role of friction in discovery and how to navigate the four forms of discovery to maximize the value of data discovery as a key strategic process.
