This book is the product of several stout hands, the absence of any of which would have prevented its creation. They are the USMA Class of 1946, which initiated a project to bring renewed emphasis to the Cadet Prayer at West Point; the USMA staff and faculty, which responded with alacrity to the opportunity to strengthen character development of cadets and officers; the Academy’s leaders, who provided an environment richly receptive to intellectual inquiry; and, lastly, those who sacrificed personally so that this volume could come to fruition.
