When a property development company grossed over a billion dollars for the first time, the owner invited me in to conduct a leadership program for his top executives. Egos were riding high—perhaps understandably, given the group’s recent financial gains. Huge commissions, bonuses, and perks like private jets for those at the top had, the owner feared, given some of his people egos the size of small planets. The more money these people made, the more arrogantly they treated their staffs and the more recklessly they made decisions.
