The key ingredients to building a great company come down to what I call the three P’s: passion, persistence, and patience. Passion fuels the fire and sustains the drive to do the difficult, but exciting work involved with launching (or relaunching) a business. Passion reminds the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurial-minded leader alike of why they do what they do. It is motivation and direction combined. Persistence is the strength to stay the course to enact change, which can be challenging on both the personal and organizational levels. When the path to meaningful change meets resistance, persistence shows the way around, over, or through the obstacles. Finally, patience reminds us that anything worth doing well, takes time.
