IN A BOOK of this nature, it is sometimes difficult to put individuals and events in proper sequence. To assist the reader who wants to properly frame the story, I have included some information that should prove useful. The first is a chronology, a listing of significant dates and events in the Wright brothers’ story (life and work). That’s followed by short biographies of aviation pioneers and other key individuals mentioned in the book. It was less disruptive to the storytelling to put the profiles of this cast of characters in this separate section, rather than to try and weave the story of each person into the chapters themselves. ...
