Introduction

In Chapters 6 and 7 we have shown how the urban institutions and ruling class interact together to extract the surplus from rural regions and funnel it upwards to the nation’s capital. Those two chapters focused on the process of accumulation as it occurs within the urban heirarchy and its rural hinterland.
