Automatic Control

Automatic control performs functions that are beyond the physical abilities of human beings. The boiler and its control system must be capable of satisfying rapid changes in load. Drum Level/feedwater control regulates flow of water to maintain the level in boiler drum. A reduction in steam temperature from design results in a loss of plant efficiency, and an increase in steam temperature may result in overheating. Attemperation is the process of reducing steam temperature by removing heat from superheated steam with the help of a desuperheater.
