Interspersed Tasks

Conducting review and summary activities throughout the lecture rather than waiting until the end is the basic idea behind the interspersed-tasks approach to interactive lectures. During these summary or review activities, you interrupt the presentation occasionally to conduct an activity that requires participants to review their notes, think back on what they heard, identify important points, relate them to the ideas from the previous segment, or share their ideas. After each interlude, be sure to return to your lecture so as to maintain the focus on the big picture. Whenever appropriate, use the key points from the preceding activity as a springboard for your continuing presentation.
