Debriefing

In reality, people do not learn from experience; they learn from reflecting on their experience. Debriefing is a systematic approach for encouraging participants to reflect on their experience and share their insights. The absence of debriefing is the main reason why exciting experiential activities, simulation games, role plays, and outdoor adventures fail to reach their maximum training effectiveness.

Begin with a jolt—a brief but powerful experiential exercise that catches participants behaving in a dysfunctional fashion.
