In a fast-changing, technology-driven world, relatively few things remain successful for long. A profitable product is rapidly eclipsed by one that works more effectively, is more eco-friendly, or costs less. A great service that customers embraced as cutting edge suddenly seems old-fashioned, replaced by a competitor that offers more options and has a better image.
