About the Author

Michael W. Sonnenfeldt is a serial entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political thought leader. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the MIT Sloan School, where he was Phi Beta Kappa. By 25, Michael led the transformation of the Harborside Financial Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, the largest commercial renovation in the country at the time. He also was the founder of Emmes & Company, a real estate investment boutique that grew to over a billion dollars in assets. More recently, following his 30-year passion for the transformative potential of solar power, Michael became chairman of Carmanah Technologies, a public Canadian solar company focused on solar signaling and lighting for infrastructure projects, including offshore wind farms, marine aids to navigation, airfield ground lighting, and lighting for roadways, pathways, and parking lots.

Michael is founder and chairman of Tiger 21, the premier network of first-generation entrepreneurial wealth creators, whose members manage in excess of $50 billion in personal assets. Tiger 21 operates in 35 major North American cities and opened in London in 2017. Michael’s own success as a serial entrepreneur, social venture capitalist, and founder of nonprofits that span international security, peacekeeping, climate defense, and the political arena places him squarely among his 500-plus peers at Tiger 21.
