Learned Dependence and Blind Obedience
The blunt reality of life in the twenty-first century is that we simply can’t keep up with all the information. Dependence on those who know more is a fact of life, but this does not mean we have to blindly follow experts, technologies, or rules. In rethinking what it means to be self-reliant in the twenty-first century, we must learn to work with those who know more about various matters than we do without being blindly obedient or mindlessly submissive.
