UNDERSTANDING THE TYPES AND IMPACTS OF FILTERS

While knowing the function of our Filters allows us to better understand how to challenge them, knowing the distinctive types of Filters gives us a road map to guide our development. To recognize our own Filters, we start with the types of Filters that are easiest to identify and progress to those that are the most difficult:

  1. Individual Filters
  2. Group Filters
  3. Systemic Filters

Knowing the three types of Filters is also critical to understanding the connection between our Filters and the inequities they create in our organizations and larger, societal systems.
