Chapter 17Leading from Passion
The visit with Kim occurred later than the meetings with the other Third Shift Entrepreneurs. For some reason, Kim insisted that Matt needed to visit her on this particular Sunday night. Would he be doing more visits with each of them? He certainly hoped so. He had many unanswered questions about this group and how they operated.
The address Kim provided was a third-floor apartment on a residential street in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. Matt stood outside on the street thinking that he had been to more neighborhoods in the last few weeks than he had in all of his time living in Chicago. He contemplated how staying in his immediate neighborhood and visiting the same familiar spots was an easy default that had deprived him of the richness and diversity of all of the neighborhoods, people and places available in a city like Chicago.
He rang the call button from downstairs. The line answered with Kim's voice, “Hellooo!”
Matt could hear laughing and active conversations in the background. “Hi, it's Matt from the Third Shift Entrepreneurs.”
“Yep. Hi Matt, I'll buzz you in. 3A.”
The buzzer sounded and Matt pushed through the front door and up the stairs where Kim swung the door open and gave him a hug. “Welcome. Come on in. Let me introduce you to everyone.”
