#15: Don’t Say You Know Me (When You Don’t) or Tell Other Lies
It seems a week doesn’t go by without getting a LinkedIn message from a stranger who wants to “connect,” saying, for example, “We worked together in Quebec at the such-and-such dog food company.”
Do you think my memory is that foggy that I don’t remember ever living in Quebec working at a dog food company?
I can’t be any more clear than this: Don’t contact potential employers through LinkedIn—the chief online network used for business and job hunting—or other social media and lie about your relationship.
For that matter, don’t lie about any information you post anywhere on your profile, in your resume, or when you talk about yourself.
