Young Workers, New Grads, and Career Changers—Be Especially Wary
This acting clueless business can be a big issue with younger workers, new graduates, or someone moving into an area in which they’ve never worked.
For example, most employers say that after interviewing dozens of
new grads, they find these young people are bright, they like technology, and they know about social media. But when asked to explain what they’d like to do at the company, they say the same thing: “I want to learn.”
Saying that might make you sound eager, which isn’t a bad thing. But if that’s all you’ve got to offer, well, let’s just say it’s doubtful you’ll make the cut.
