BABIES ARE BORN to make sounds. In the beginning, that mostly means crying. But gradually, your baby will start to utter sounds that sound, well, human. Eventually, she’ll put these sounds together to make words. At first, those words may be ones that only you can decipher. Later, her words will start to sound like the speech of a preschooler.
