Transport Layer Security at a Glance
Before we dive into Transport Layer Security (TLS) cryptography in the next two parts of the book, we provide a high-level overview of the TLS protocol in this chapter. We will look at the role of the World Wide Web for TLS development, why SSL, the predecessor of TLS, was needed and how it was deployed in early web browsers, and how SSL eventually became TLS.
