tmux gives us quite a few ways to customize our environment’s appearance. In this section, we’ll walk through configuring some of these options, as we customize the status line and other components. We’ll start by configuring the colors for various elements, then we’ll turn our bland status bar into something that will provide us with some vital information about our environment.
To get the best visual experience out of tmux, we have to make sure that both our Terminal and tmux are configured for 256 colors. Let’s start by configuring our Terminal first.
