It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Running Toad the First Time
With Toad now successfully installed, it’s time to run it for the first time. This requires installing and configuring the Oracle client, connecting to the desired Oracle database, learning the basic menus and screens, plus making some basic customizations that will make your Toad usage more productive.
These next few sections are critical. Toad must connect to your Oracle database in order for you to work on it. Failure to connect will severely limit which features and functions in Toad will be active. For example, with no connection you cannot browse the database or submit SQL commands to retrieve and display data.
