IP Services

In addition to all of the features and services discussed thus far in this book, the Cisco IOS supports a collection of optional but helpful functions that Cisco refers to collectively as “IP services.” These include two systems that can be used to monitor and manage the network, SNMP and Syslog and two first hop redundancy protocols, HSRP and GLBP that can be used to provide router redundancy and router load balancing respectively to hosts.
