Let’s review what we just accomplished. We created a backdrop that allows a high performance operation to deliberately emerge. This backdrop incorporates a number of key attributes: business culture, environment, and interpersonal/social attributes; systemic, operational, and functional attributes; and attributes that give us transparency, insight, and measures of performance and value.

This backdrop takes up the majority of the book. Why? Context is everything. Semantics are important. Establishing exactly where I’m coming from is critical to defining where I’m going.
