The waiter has just delivered the second round of beers (and a cosmopolitan) to Sang Yap, Henry, Deepak, and Alice at the front table of their favorite watering hole. Alice is riffing on why she said that her work sucks. “First of all, it’s not really clear if our project is going to make a difference. I keep getting conflicting signals. And the stuff they have me working on is not really in my power alley, especially since Bill and half of his department were laid off. The timelines are totally unrealistic, especially given how often I have to stop and answer e-mail—my inbox is killing me!”
