Abstract
From the mechanical design viewpoint, the inherent brittleness of thermosetting polymeric systems is a major disadvantage that limits their extensive applications. Micro- and nanoparticles incorporated into polymeric systems increase the toughness and enhance the fracture performance of such materials. This chapter first provides an overview of fracture toughness parameters based on the stress intensity factor and energy release rate.
