Introduction
An ancient saying is ‘the fish rots from the head down’ and there have been many leaders in history (such as Hitler, Mao and Stalin) who could claim to have had devastating effects on their countries. What is it about such individuals that they can wreak such havoc and why have they been able to get away with it, at least for the most part and for a time? In this chapter we explore something of that pathology and how it can become so destructive.
