Introduction

An early sign of a toxic culture is low motivation with employees ‘going through the motions’ rather than being keen to achieve organisational and maybe personal goals. The consequence is that the organisation does not achieve its maximum potential, and forward momentum is lacking. In this chapter we explore the role that motivation and communications play in both enhancing and debilitating culture.
