Abstract:
This chapter presents the main waste categories used in construction materials with a focus on aggregates and cement-based materials. The chemical composition and properties of the selected wastes are presented in relation to their intrinsic toxic or ecotoxic hazard potential. The factors influencing the leaching of hazardous substances and the toxicity of construction materials in relation to their utilisation scenario are discussed.
