Budgeting for profit

The Chancellor of the Exchequer has his moment of glory in the House of Commons twice a year. First, in the autumn, the government’s spending and tax-raising plans are unveiled in the Pre-Budget Report, but that is only the appetiser to the main course. The Chancellor serves up the Budget in March, revealing the full details of his plans to the nation.

Politics may be a minefield, but, thankfully, the stock markets are far more predictable in the way that they react to the Budget. That is good news because it means that we can profit by being politically correct with how we play the markets at that time of the year.
