Finding the Root Cause of the Problem
The section “Common Configuration Mistakes” discussed the effects of configuring certain things incorrectly. The section “Tools for Troubleshooting MPLS TE Problems” provided a quick overview of commands that are useful for troubleshooting MPLS TE problems.
Sometimes, the problem's not so easy to spot. This section goes into detail about what you should look for when something goes wrong, how to look for it, and what you can do to fix it.
If you have an MPLS TE problem, you generally start looking at the problem from the headend of the TE tunnel. From the headend, you find only two possible categories of problems—your tunnel is either down or up.
