One-on-One Training
As noted in chapter 1, training probably began with one master teaching one student how to accomplish some task. This section will discuss several types of one-to-one training including OJT, job aids, mentoring, and coaching.
On-the-Job Training
As you might expect, OJT happens on the job site and not in the classroom. The concept is a close cousin to apprenticeship, but it has been studied, refined, and improved. On-the-job training is now much more structured and relies on thorough analysis, well-written objectives, and clear instructions in the trainer’s guide and in the learner materials.
