Data mining is the most advanced part of a BI solution. Data mining should actually stand for the “I” in “BI.” With data mining algorithms, you can automatically discover previously unknown patterns and rules in your data. Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) can use predictive models through the Data Mining Query task and transformation in the control flow or data flow of a package. You can add predictions from the mining model to your data. In addition, SSIS implements text mining through the Term Extraction and Term Lookup transformations.
