Chapter 4. Migrating, Importing, and Exporting

Import and export data.

In this chapter, you learn about the methods you can use to upgrade a Database Engine instance from a previous version of Microsoft SQL Server to SQL Server 2012. To cover those situations when a Database Engine upgrade is not possible or desirable, you learn how to migrate an existing database to a new instance, located on either the same or a different host system. You learn how to copy large amounts of data from one table or set of tables to other databases on the same and on different instances, and about the different techniques you can use to perform bulk import and export operations.
