The ability to train others is a skill that can be learned. Rarely does it come naturally. To acquire any skill, you have to learn how to do it and then practice, practice, practice. The training teaches you how to do it; certification requires practice and continuous reinforcement.
Having untrained trainers results in loss of credibility for the trainers and the whole training program. Trainers must earn the respect of trainees not only by being competent in the job tasks, but also by demonstrating good training techniques. Trainers who are properly trained develop higher levels of self-esteem and enjoy greater respect from their peers and supervisors.
