It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
1.6. CHAPTER LAB EXERCISES
These lab exercises are optional but highly encouraged since working on the system is the only way to learn SQL. Lab Exercise 1 introduces using MSS. Lab Exercise 2 and beyond are RDBMS independent.

1.6.1.1. Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager
Open a Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager as follows.
Start – Programs – Microsoft SQL Server – Enterprise Manager
If prompted to log in, select “Use SQL Server authentication” and log in as sa with no password (unless you have changed the sa password during or after installation as you should on a production machine).
