Martha Madigan (b. 1950) acquired her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1978), during which time Robert W. Fichter was one of her advisers, and later attended summer classes at Visual Studies Workshop with Todd Walker along with Nathan and Joan Lyons. She has taught at the Tyler School of Art since 1979. Madigan’s metaphorical images mark time by slowing it down, allowing her a cornucopia of information about the human intermeshing with nature to be unfolded and examined at a personal pace.
