John Metoyer (b. 1966) received his MFA in creative writing from McNeese State University (1996), where he studied with Dr. John Wood, the writer and photographic historian (not the artist John Wood featured earlier in the book). Metoyer draws the source material of his allegorical images from both his ancestral Louisiana Creole culture and the history of photography itself, which is fraught with fabrications that were, and often still are, accepted as facts.
