Is It Less Than the Sum of Its Parts?
The principle of integration and synergy is about understanding how different HR solutions mesh with one another and with other organizational processes to deliver a unique and distinctly compelling proposition to the organization and the workforce. It is about ensuring that decisions work together in concert and reinforce each other such that 1 + 1 = 3.
Integration means ensuring that HR programs are aligned so that they do not work at cross-purposes. When integration is handled well, HR programs reinforce one another to achieve synergies so that the whole is more than the sum of its parts.
