Distribution Systems

The purpose of any distribution system is to deliver power to the loads as safely and as economically as possible while meeting all requirements of the job specifications, the NEC, and the code of the local jurisdiction.

Design Considerations

The system should meet present needs and take into account any future needs. Some of the basic factors that must be considered are:

• type of structure.

• present utilization and possible future uses.

• projected life of the structure.

• flexibility of the structure.

• location of service entrance equipment.

• load requirements and their locations.

• sources, quality, and continuity of power.

• switchgear, distribution equipment, and panels.
