10Virtual Reality in Education: Benefits, Applications and Challenges

Abstract
The most popular current form of technology is virtual reality. When you use high-tech equipment, you just enter another universe and engage with it. We enter alternative universes using VR. It depicts a clear representation of an artificial environment dominated by sight and sound that is created using software. The users’ experience of virtual reality is presented to them in a way that makes them see it as real.
People are constantly looking for different ways to make the transfer of information faster, easier, and more effective. We now have the opportunity to employ technology to enhance learning in the age of electronic devices. Virtual reality appears to be the direction education is taking in its progress. Through memorable and engaging experiences, virtual reality can improve education. However, because there is less human interaction, the use of virtual reality harms relationships between students. If the learning opportunities students enjoy in virtual worlds exceed what they would get in the real world, they may get addicted to them. This chapter intends to provide readers with a deeper grasp of the idea of virtual reality in education, applications of VR, the benefits and drawbacks of using it in the classroom, immersive VR learning, and the effect of VR on the educational system.
