Putting Together a Team
In our experience, poor user adoption has been the primary failure behind ECM initiatives. The only way to ensure user adoption is to engage the potential audience, ensure that you can satisfy their needs. You also need executive leadership to provide the necessary incentives for adoption, and promote the successes. You need dedicated IT resources, but you also need managers and business analysts who understand the needs of their audience. This team needs to be dedicated to the value of ECM, and offered incentives to be actively involved in its success.
Some organizations call this an ECM Center of Excellence, a term which we will use throughout this book.
