Nature offers kaleidoscopic and harmonious transformations in the changing seasons of the year. An early fall scene of mist rising from the lake, which for a short time into the fall season is warmer than the air, shrouds the sharp edges of boats on the water and presents what appear to be dancing ghosts. In transforming research libraries in response to, even in anticipation of, a changing environment, we seek transformations that will be in harmony with the scholarly and research communities although of longer duration than those seen on the misty lake.
