Introduction
Perhaps the best summary of the future logistics/supply chain landscape is depicted in Figure 8.1, prepared by DHL. This maps social and business trends against technology trends, and uses a high–low scale to assess the potential level of disruption caused by each phenomenon.
It is clear that contemporary supply chains will all have to be fully digitized end-to-end (E2E) to remain competitive in the future. This is going to require a lot of work internally and with trading partners in corresponding distribution channels.
